Paediatric software: growth monitoring, newborn record and immunisation

Growth scored against the WHO Child Growth Standards, a locked newborn record and immunisation schedules, on the same chart as the rest of the visit.

Why it matters

Paediatric care adds questions an adult chart does not ask: is this child growing as expected, was the newborn assessed at birth, which vaccines are due. When the answers live in paper cards or separate spreadsheets, they are not in front of the clinician at the visit.

The Ventrecs paediatrics module keeps growth, the newborn record and immunisations on the child's own record. They sit next to the notes, orders and results of the same encounter.

What it does

From birth to a monitored childhood

Growth monitoring

Each measurement is scored when it is saved.

  • Growth measurements scored against the WHO Child Growth Standards, 0 to 60 months
  • Z-scores, percentiles and a class for weight-, length/height- and BMI-for-age
  • A review flag when a value needs the clinician's attention

Newborn record

The first assessment is recorded once and then locked.

  • APGAR scoring with gestation and birth-weight categories
  • A newborn screening checklist
  • Linked to the delivery record in the maternity module

Immunisation

Schedules produce a list of what is due.

  • Vaccines, immunisation schedules and immunisation records
  • Due and overdue lists on the patient
  • Duplicate, minimum-age and minimum-interval checks on each dose

In the ward and clinic

Children are cared for where the rest of the hospital works.

  • Paediatric cots and wards on the live bed board
  • Orders, results and prescriptions on the same chart
  • Bilingual discharge summary for the family

Built-in safeguards

Out-of-range values are flaggedValues beyond the published range are clamped at plus or minus 3 and marked for review, not silently accepted.
Finalised newborn records are lockedOnce finalised, a newborn record cannot be edited; changes are made as an amendment.
Doses are checkedA dose is checked for duplicates, minimum age and minimum interval. Overriding needs a reason, and an expired vaccine or a missing lot is refused.
Schedules are your jurisdiction'sNo immunisation schedule is imposed. Approved schedules are loaded per country and drive the due and overdue lists.

Questions we are asked

Which growth standards does it use?

Measurements are scored against the WHO Child Growth Standards for weight-, length/height- and BMI-for-age from 0 to 60 months. The edition used is confirmed during implementation.

Can we use our national immunisation schedule?

Yes. Schedules are configuration data. Ventrecs ships none, so the schedule you approve is the one that drives the due and overdue lists.

Is the newborn record linked to the mother's delivery?

Yes. A delivery cannot be finalised until each linked newborn record is finalised.

Does it replace the clinician's judgement on growth?

No. It scores and flags. The clinician reviews flagged values and decides.
